Hey Y'll...
Happy friday guys!!:)How is it going ?
Well today one of my friends sent me an email asking me what lens is good to upgrade from the kit lens he has for his DSLR...Told him from my opinion and he gave me an idea to give y'lls tips on what to get for a second lens(or maybe a third) for your dslr.Note that this tips i'm sharing is based from my own experience as a Photographer and from my dad who was a Journalist Photographer for The Sun Newspaper here in Malaysia.
Getting A second Lens?
I'm guessing that you have your dslr for about one year...And your have the basics of photography...and u r thinking of getting new lenses...i'm guessing ur thinking of buying an all-in-one lens..(sebab nk save duit) maybe an 18-200mm?or 55-200mm?the one that has a variable aperture with a minimum of 'f/3 .5'?...for me..i wont buy those lens...Why?Lenses with a bigger aperture give you the advantage when shooting in low light conditions and in using a faster shutter speed that wont make u increase the ISO value that can produced image Noises. And yes, they may cost hold lot of money but then you wont be upgrading to a new lens in a short period of time unless if a new vision of the lens is made...

For me,buy a lens that fits the style of photography u shoot...u'll get a quality lens that u will use for a long time...In this case,my friend has an EOS 1100D and he like to take portraits and videos and want to upgrade from the kit lens he has...
So, knowing that...btw he was on a budget of RM1200#....
Knowing that, first lens in my mind was the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 priced at only RM320...this lens is great for portraits and the BOKEH in this is so silky smooth...He also mentioned that he want to do some short filming...I was kinda scratching my head of what lens is good for doing videos..and then i remembered these two lenses that has a reasonable price tag and great for video coz they have quite a close focusing distance to give that dramatic feel...the lenses are the Canon EF 28 f/2.8 and the Canon EF 35 f/2. Focusing in these lens is very fast..the best thing is the Price for each of the lens is just under RM900...
